Loowatt’s patented toilet integrates revolutionary waterless flush technology with a 360-degree waste processing system to deliver hygienic and safe toilets for both permanent and temporary off-grid installations around the world. From the Loowatt Home toilet, designed for domestic use, to the Loowatt Pod toilet for commercial applications, there is a Loowatt solution designed to fit.

HOW IT WORKS

Patented Loowatt technology provides a hygienic, waterless toilet, with a liner that wraps human waste and pulls it into a container.

The waste is sealed away and the toilet’s hygiene is renewed with every flush. This removes the risk of contact with the waste and its odour; eliminating the faecal plume that contaminates the air and protects against the spread of germs and viruses (including Covid).
These are the cause of so many health issues in places where safe sanitation is not present.

Providing safe sanitation goes beyond just installing hygienic toilets - it requires the safe collection, transportation and treatment of faecal sludge. It is this innovative, closed-loop process of waste management that has been carefully designed by Loowatt and really sets us apart.

REFILLS &
MAINTENANCE

Our refill system ensures an excellent toilet experience with a clean bowl for every use, and hygienic servicing, without ever coming into contact with the waste, ensuring safe conveyance of human waste from toilets to treatment.

The user is notified when the container needs to be replaced either through the specially designed app or from the colour-coded polymer film. New film are then added to the toilet with a new, empty container.

Container size and refill length can be selected to suit the type of use.

SEPARATING AND PROCESSING THE WASTE

The Loowatt Processing Machine (LPM) separates the film from the waste before processing as part of the Loowatt closed-loop waste management system. This unique technology enables contaminant-free human waste to be used as feedstock in Anaerobic Digestion and other treatment systems, and the refills (which account for just 2% of the waste stream) to be composted or recycled.

The LPM enables ‘plug-and-play’ adoption of Loowatt technology in a broad range of utility and service contexts.

+ Benefits

+ A SAFE SANITATION SOLUTION
The patented, waterless flush hygienically seals away germs that otherwise contaminate the air. With the ability to install the toilet in or near to the family home, all members of the family can use the facility, without having to struggle with the numerous health and safety issues of using dangerous and dirty pit latrines and open defecation.
+ SAVING PRECIOUS WATER RESOURCES
With the UN predicting that half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas by 2030, a solution beyond the ‘normal’ toilet is required. In comparison to a toilet with an 8 litre flush, the Loowatt toilet system saves 17,500 litres of water per person per year.
 + FLEXIBLE INSTALLATION
Beyond relying on increasingly scarce water resources, ‘normal’ toilets rely on connection to a sewer network, which two thirds of the world’s population is without. Even in large urban areas, it’s difficult to retroactively install sewage networks. Beyond the obstacle of digging below a city’s foundations, it’s expensive work to facilitate and then maintain. The Loowatt Home toilet seals and collects waste in containers as part of our closed-loop system – read more here.
+ PRODUCING ENERGY FROM WASTE
Currently, 60% of the world’s faecal sludge is disposed of unsafely. We take responsibility for the entire end-to-end process of waste collection and work closely with our customers and utility partners to tailor a solution for each installation. The Loowatt Home toilet is the first step in the closed-loop process of collecting and treating the waste and then turning it into valuable by-products – biogas for heat and power, and nutrient recapture to produce organic fertiliser.

+ Benefits

+ A SAFE, ODOURLESS SANITATION SOLUTION
Our patented, waterless flush hygienically seals away odours, and more importantly, the faecal plume, which protects against the spread of germs and viruses, including COVID-19.  Loowatt makes using a portable toilet a memorable experience for all the right reasons!
+ GREENER, MORE FLEXIBLE SERVICING
Loowatt’s waterless flush technology saves thousands of litres of water a year versus a flush toilet on a sewered network.
Furthermore, no nasty chemicals are needed to service the toilets. This means toilets can be positioned conveniently for users, without having to allow for access for large pump trucks. This approach allows for more flexible servicing regimens, reducing trips required for pump out trucks and reducing the associated transport costs.
+ OFF-GRID ACCESS
Due to its waterless technology and its closed-loop process for collection and processing, the Loowatt Pro toilet is perfect for commercial installations where it is not possible to connect to the local sewage plant such as construction sites, transport networks, remote locations and events. Very low power consumption means power can be provided from solar panels or a small, stand-alone generator (enquire separately).

LOOWATT POD

The Loowatt Pod is designed for use with Loowatt Pro toilets and facilitates transport and deployment at large events, construction sites and other off-grid applications. Waste is safely sealed away with every flush and conveniently stored in containers, removing the need for cumbersome pump-out trucks, and, more importantly for the planet, it removes the need for chemical flushes.

+ CUSTOMIZED POD BUILD
Pods can be built to meet your requirements from single to multi bay, with individual door access for optimised hygiene and safety.
+ EASY INSTALLATION
Pod can be easily transported to site and located anywhere, situating toilet location as convenient for the users (rather than having to be placed for pump-out truck access, as is necessary with chemical toilets).
+ EASY SERVICING
Full containers can be stored and don’t rely on large trucks for removal/cleaning. Servicing providers are notified via the Pro toilet app when toilet servicing is required.
