THE GLOBAL
|
Imagine not having access to a clean loo, ever! That’s the case for almost half the global population, 3.6 billion people, who lack access to safe sanitation. Nearly 1 million people die each year from water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases and many millions more have their lives seriously affected by ill health as a direct result.

Without ready access to a toilet, the only choice for many people often is open-defecation or pit latrines. These are often in public spaces and come with dangers and indignities, particularly for women and children. The statistics reflect a widespread health crisis, but they also have severe socio-economic impact, the global costs of inadequate sanitation are estimated at US$260 billion per year.
Domestic toilets and pit latrines often empty into fresh waterways and onto land, contaminating the environment and spreading diseases. The impact of untreated waste in the environment is huge with over 60% of the world’s faecal sludge disposed of unsafely.
We know traditional, sewered toilets are not the answer; expensive and hard to install, they are also dependent on a steady supply of water, but, by 2030, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas.
Our waterless toilets and closed loop sanitation system address all these challenges, allowing people around the world to access safe and sustainable toilets within their homes and communities.
